Doing Unto Others…
Our
church actively works to combat poverty and oppression all around the world
through Presbyterian World Service & Development. PWS&D is the
development and relief agency of the church, meaning we support long-term
development programs that help marginalized people access food, clean water,
health care, education opportunities and agriculture support. We provide
assistance following disaster and conflict, such as the earthquake in Haiti,
flooding in Pakistan and the famine in East Africa. We even respond to some of
the lesser-known emergencies that rarely get picked up in the news but where the
need is just as great, such as flooding in Bangladesh, earthquakes in Malawi and
landslides in Uganda.
Through
partnerships with other humanitarian and aid agencies, we have programs
addressing poverty across the globe. PWS&D is a proud member of KAIROS:
Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, Canadian
Foodgrains Bank and Canadian Churches in Action.

Gifts
to PWS&D go much further than you realize, working toward long-term and
sustainable initiatives that address the root causes of poverty. The communities
where we work are being transformed-famers are growing more food, mothers are
learning about proper nutrition for their babies, children are going to school
and families are having more opportunities. Together, our church continues to
live out the gospel, having a meaningful and effective response to God's call to
love our neighbour.
s Donations to PWS&D can be made through your regular church
offering by marking your offering envelope "For PWS&D." You can
also donate online,
mail a cheque to the office or call 1-800-619-7301 ext. 291.
